why work with me?


I got started because of what BodyTalk did for me.

It took me from a migraine-prone, hormone-imbalanced ball of anxiety into freedom and ease. From a committed grudge-holder into a state of grace. From an exhausted wreck to a can-do girl. Seriously.

I’ve been a practitioner since 2008 and have led thousands of sessions.

I became a Licensed Massage Therapist in 2011, and that deepened my understanding of how the body works, and where we hold our stories. (Tightly.)

I have taken hundreds of hours of continuing education training, including all of the advanced modules in BodyTalk and PaRama, the highest form of BodyTalk. I’m also certified to teach BodyTalk Access, the introductory course that teaches you a daily healing protocol to support your body and life.

This is my life’s work. Plain and simple.


what can you expect from a session?


I offer sessions in person in Ellensburg WA, and via Zoom or phone. If you choose to work by Zoom I’ll email the link the day before our session. If you choose the phone option I’ll call you at our appointment time.

After you purchase your first session in the shop you’ll receive a link to book your session, as well as a link to fill out a simple intake form.

If you choose a remote session, you’ll receive a link to the intake form. I will run your session and email you the recording within 72 hours of the time I receive your completed intake form.

The first time we meet we’ll spend a few minutes reviewing your history and intentions for our work together, and then we’ll get started. In person, you’ll rest on my super-comfy massage table fully dressed while we work. Via phone or Zoom, you’ll want to be in a place that’s undisturbed and comfortable.

BodyTalk sessions are approximately 45 minutes.

Depending on what your body brings forward, you may have a few days of adjustment after a session. You may notice temporary changes in your digestion, water intake, and effects of whatever shifts came up in your session.

Most people return for follow-up sessions within 2-4 weeks until your symptoms (in your body and/or your life) have resolved.

I have many clients who choose to continue on a monthly basis with me. BodyTalk keeps unfolding the next level of possibilities!

okay, but what is bodytalk? 

At its heart, BodyTalk is a conversation between the practitioner (me!) and your body that aims to reveal the best pathways for your healing and growth. To do this, BodyTalk relies on a few fundamental principles. As follows.

Your body, which is wildly intelligent, always knows what it needs. My role is to help highlight and stimulate your own capacity for healing. Rather than coming in with an agenda, I’m trained to tune in and ask your body what it most needs at the precise time that the session is taking place. This means that a session can take us to unexpected but powerful places.

In a BodyTalk session, we’re asking your body to identify priorities. You have trillions of cells creating complex interdependent systems, all of which are influenced by the day-to-day experiences here on planet Earth. Where to start? Every session returns again and again to the idea of priority.

You may know your metabolism is sluggish and you’re not sleeping well, but your body may identify something seemingly unrelated to work with, like a digestive issue or a memory you just can’t get out of your head. BodyTalk practitioners are trained to trust the process, because what your body considers to be the priority is the way to address the metabolism or sleep or whatever else is going on. It’s a huge part of the magic of BodyTalk: the permission to trust that your body just needs to remember its own best expression, and then it will take the healing from there.

BodyTalk is a respectful practice. We don’t move an inch without permission. BodyTalk creates change, and we want your body to be ready for that change.

Every now and then a person will show up for a session and their body will not give permission to work. When that happens, we slow down, regroup and tune in carefully.

If I still can’t get permission, then it occasionally happens that someone needs something other than BodyTalk. I’ve had it happen that a person needed to see a dentist, and that a person needed to see her cardiologist. Remember, the body is smart. What we don’t do is charge forward and force your system to play along. There is no forcing in BodyTalk. None. That’s not how we play.

 

We use what we call “structured intuition.” The structure comes from a brilliant set of charts that mind-map almost anything that could be going on with your system. I use muscle checking to ask your body where in the chart it would like to focus. After many years of practice, this has become a fluent language that allows us to explore about anything from your organs to your beliefs to your spiritual health, or anything else in the world around you that’s driving you crazy.

Thanks to this system, we can navigate around all those possibilities using an intuitive process that’s repeatable and often remarkable. Intuition, remember, is intellect that resides below the surface of the conscious mind. It’s not made up; it’s simply accessed through channels beyond the limits of the rigid left brain. When we open the door to our full field of knowing, we can observe powerful changes. But we don’t have to bob around in the sea, hoping for something valuable. The structure of our protocol chart helps us to hone in on what will be most useful, most quickly.

Once we’ve identified what’s up—anger stuck in your elbow, say, or family friction keeping you stuck in a state of fight or flight—then we can apply one of the many kick-ass BodyTalk techniques to help change the story. There are techniques to help stimulate your immune system, settle your nervous system, de-escalate conflict with the people around you, stimulate your spiritual growth and process memories that are jammed up in your tissues. To name a few. How do we know which techniques to apply? The same way we know what the issue is: we simply ask.

I say body, but I really mean body, mind and spirit. Keep in mind, we live in our bodies. Everything that happens to you, for your entire life, happens in your body. There’s not some other storage area somewhere that’s holding all your memories and emotions and beliefs and ancestral patterns. It’s all right there, in your body. In your knee. In that lingering whiplash injury, in your chronically stiff low back. Your life is entangled in your body, expressing itself in your body. For that reason, BodyTalk almost always touches on all three elements of our experience. We have symptoms in our body because of emotions that are triggered by memories and beliefs. It’s all intertwined.

The good news is that since this is how your body naturally operates, it’s not confused about untangling these relationships. You keep spraining that ankle because you can’t make a decision about whether or not to change jobs? Your sluggish thyroid seems to be reflecting an idea that no one listens to you? The more you worry about your wayward kid, the more your blood sugar gets screwy? None of this is a mystery to your body. It has systems in place to process all of your emotions and experiences…and in a perfect world, everything hums along smoothly. But when the world gets imperfect, healing usually requires looking at the issue on all levels.

 

Observation creates change. From the moment I connect with your body to explore why your shoulder hurts, your body starts the process of repairing it. How? Because we observed the change. Just like I’m not an electrician but I know how to turn on a light, I’m not a quantum physicist but I know how to tap into the healing potential of observing shifts. This is the future of medicine. It’s graceful, it’s precise, and it creates change on the level where the disruption first began: in the field of consciousness.

Here are a few things BodyTalk is NOT. It’s not mental health counseling. If you need a diagnosis, medication, or the support of a trained mental health therapist, then I’m happy to offer a referral.

BodyTalk is not medical testing. Sometimes the nature of a session, which can look like magic, can make it tempting to ask if you should take a certain medication, see a certain doctor, or pursue a certain kind of treatment. To answer questions along those lines is unethical, unreliable and beyond my scope of practice, which makes it illegal. In other words, I don’t do it.

BodyTalk is not an oracle. I’m telling you, this stuff gets trippy. When a session takes us to information that I can’t have known about, or helps you let go of patterns that you could barely see yourself, it can feel otherworldly. But all we’re doing is providing an easy way for your system to express itself, which is not the same as tapping into other dimensions or reading Tarot cards. I love a Tarot card reading, but that’s not what we’re doing here. So BodyTalk is no good at telling the future or shedding light on what that guy on Match.com is thinking. We only know what your body knows. The good news is, your body knows a lot.

 

Here are a few metaphors for my work: I am a stage light, highlighting elements of your experience so your body can express a different possibility. I am a maintenance worker with an industrial flashlight, crawling around in the basement, looking for where the wires got disconnected. I am a translator, giving language to the images and sensations I’m picking up from your system. I am a lighthouse, helping to guide your true self back into your safe harbor.

What we’re really doing in a bodytalk session is clearing the stuff that blocks your true Self. We’re all expressions of the Divine, but we get all jammed up with crappy experiences, collective ideas, and emotions that no amount of Ben & Jerrys will fix. BodyTalk helps to dissolve the stiff stuck places that stand between you and your most radiant self.

And you should know that your Self is, indeed, most radiant. You are a brilliant being. An expression of all the love and wisdom that is Source. You have gifts that no one has, beauty that only you can bring into the world, love that can’t be expressed any other way than through your vibration. You’re a brilliant, humming bundle of possibilities. You may have forgotten this, or your experience may be getting in the way of it, but it’s still true that you’re magnificent. In the end, my work is to help you find your way back to this expression of you. Every day. All the time. Because at your core, that is who you are. Alive, aligned, alight.
